PCI Security Standards Council Statement on the Formation of the
PCI Security Vendor Alliance

Contrary to any statements that may have been made by the recently announced
Payment Card Industry Security Vendor Alliance, there is no connection between the
PCI Security Standards Council and this new organization.

The PCI Security Standards Council has no existing agreement with the Payment Card
Industry Security Vendor Alliance to work with or support its products and services.

However, we are pleased that the Payment Card Industry Security Vendor Alliance
recognizes the value and importance of the PCI Data Security Standard, which provides
the core means to ensure the security of confidential consumer information.
