Description

Currently, the only POI Information Identifier (ID) defined under the POI Information (Tag '8B') is the ‘Terminal Category’ (POI Information ID: '0001'), whose value allows a terminal to indicate to the card that it is a transit terminal or a loyalty terminal. This Specification Bulletin adds a new POI Information ID, ‘Transit Operator ID’ (POI Information ID: '0002'). With the new ID, it allows the terminal to indicate the particular transit operator it belongs to*. *To use the feature, the transit operator is required to register with EMVCo and obtain a unique value to identify itself. POI Information ID Name '0001' Terminal Category '0002' Transit Operator ID Table A-2: EMV Defined POI Information Identifiers (IDs) Description Indicates the terminal category to which the terminal belongs. For terminals that do not belong to a terminal category listed below, the Terminal Category ID L V is not present in the POI Information data object. '00 01' '00 02' Transit gate; the terminal at the entrance or exit to a transit network (e.g. a metro gate) or vehicle (e.g. a bus) that is used to accept cards for transit network access. This category does not include terminals present in transit acceptance environments but that do not control access to the transit network (e.g. unattended ticketing kiosks). Loyalty; the terminal facilitates a loyalty program using POI Information. All other values are RFU for this specification. Identifies a particular transit operator. In Annex C.1.3, replace the existing footnote 15 with the following new wording – Additional POI Information (POI Information ID ‘0002’ or greater) may be provided to the card only when the Terminal Category of the terminal is on the Terminal Categories Supported List provided by the card. If a terminal is not configured with POI Information ID ‘0001’ (Terminal Category), then any additional POI Information configured at the terminal that have POI Information ID greater than ‘0001’ may only be retrieved by the card by including POI Information (Tag '8B') in SDOL. New additional POI Information IDs may be introduced by EMVCo in the future.
