Specification Bulletin No. 153 First Edition February 2015 Type B CID ISO/IEC 14443 Alignment This Specification Bulletin changes the requirements related to Type B CID handling to align with ISO/IEC 14443.

Applicability

This Specification Bulletin applies to:

  • EMV Contactless Specifications for Payment Systems, Book D – EMV Contactless Communication Protocol Specification, Version 2.4 – February 2014.

Description

This bulletin changes the requirements related to Type B CID handling to align with ISO/IEC 14443 as follows:

  • If the PICC did not advertise support for CID in its ATQB but it receives and ATTRIB command with CID different from zero, then it must consider it a protocol error.
  • If the PICC did advertise support for CID in its ATQB, then it must accept an ATTRIB command with CID in the range from 1 to 14.
  • If the PICC receives an ATTRIB command containing CID=15, then it must consider it a protocol error.
  • The CID value in the PICC’s ATTRIB response must be the same as the CID value specified in the ATTRIB Command. http://www.emvco.com/specifications.aspx. Specification Changes Change Requirements 6.24 as follows: Requirements 6.24: Coding of Param 4 of the ATTRIB Command PCD 6.4.1.10 The PCD shall not use CID, indicated by setting b4-b1 of Param 4 to (0000)b. PICC 6.4.1.11 The PICC shall accept a PCD not using CID. an ATTRIB command with CID set 0. The PICC may support Card Identifier (CID). 6.4.1.11a A PICC that indicates support for CID in the ATQB (b1 of byte 3 of Protocol Info set to 1b) shall accept an ATTRIB command with CID in the range from 1 to 14. A PICC that does not indicate support for CID in the ATQB (b1 of byte 3 of Protocol Info set to 0b) shall treat an ATTRIB command with CID in the range from 1 to 14 as a protocol error. 6.4.1.11b The PICC shall treat an ATTRIB command with CID set to 15 as a protocol error. Change Requirements 6.26 as follows: Requirements 6.26: CID in ATTRIB Response PCD 6.4.2.1a The PCD shall resort to exception processing (protocol error) on reception of an ATTRIB response with CID different from the value of the CID in the ATTRIB command. PICC 6.4.2.1 The returned value of the CID in the ATTRIB response shall always have the value (0000)b in response to an ATTRIB command with CID set to (0000)b be equal to the value of the CID in the ATTRIB command. http://www.emvco.com/specifications.aspx.
