Effective Date
This Specification Bulletin is effective from November 2014 at which time any affected or new type approval testing will come into effect.
Applicability
This Specification Bulletin applies to: EMV Contactless Specifications for Payment Systems, Book D – EMV Contactless Communication Protocol Specification, Version 2.3.1 – November 2013.

Specification Change 1. Clarify 10.3.5.9 as follows: PCD 10.3.5.9 If no error recovery is possible, then the PCD shall reset the Operating Field (as defined in section 3.2.6). At this stage it is up to the implementation to define how terminal and PCD continue processing. This may be (but is not limited to): Wait with unmodulated carrier for a time tPAUSE and resume with the polling procedure as specified in section 9.2. Continue with the removal procedure as specified in section 9.5. Note that in this case the reset of the Operating Field in requirement 9.5.1.1 should be skipped. Power‐off the Operating Field as specified in section 3.2.9.
