Description

In support of continued enhancements to EMV and new specifications from EMVCo (for example, for contactless and mobile), it is necessary to define new tagged data elements. However, EMV has a limited number of tags which may be reserved for use by EMVCo, the payment systems and issuers. In order to increase the number of tags available for allocation, EMVCo is reserving ranges of constructed context-specific class data element tags for use by EMVCo specifications, payment systems and issuers. Proposed Specification Change In EMV 4.2 Book 3, add the following bullets before the last bullet in section B1:

  • "The coding of tag 'BF0C' and constructed context-specific class data objects in the range 'BF20' to 'BF4F' is reserved for this specification.
  • The coding of constructed context-specific class data objects in the ranges 'BF10' to 'BF1F' and 'BF50' to 'BF6F' is reserved for the payment systems.
  • The coding of constructed context-specific class data objects in the ranges 'BF01' to 'BF0B', 'BF0D' to 'BF0F', and 'BF70' to 'BF7F' is left to the discretion of the issuer." © 1994-2011 EMVCo, LLC (“EMVCo”).
