Description
EMV currently requires that terminals supporting offline data authentication support at minimum SDA. This bulletin updates the specifications to require that terminals supporting offline data authentication support at minimum SDA and DDA. An updated terminal type approval Implementation Conformance Statement will be operational from the end of January 2009. Specification Change Notice Please make the following change to EMV Book 4 Cardholder, Attendant, and Acquirer Interface Requirements: Modify the 2nd paragraph of Section 6.3.2 to become: "All other terminals shall be capable of performing both offline static data authentication (SDA) and offline dynamic data authentication (DDA and optionally CDA) as described in Book 3." Delete the 2nd paragraph of Section 6.4. Modify the 3rd paragraph of Section 6.4 to become: "An offline-only terminal and an offline terminal with online capability shall support both SDA and DDA and may optionally support CDA." Please make the following change to EMV Book 3 Application Specifications:
Modify the 2nd sentence of the Conditions of Execution clause of Section 10.3 to become: "If both the terminal and the ICC support a common method of offline data authentication, the terminal shall perform this function offline data authentication."
