SB nº SU-66 : CCD Setting of CDA Performed in the CVR (Spec Change)

v1.0 Specification Bulletins

Specification Update Bulletin No. 66 First Edition May 2008 CCD Setting of CDA Performed in the CVR This Specification Update Bulletin describes changes to the Common Core Definitions (CCD) part of the EMV Integrated Circuit Card Specification for Payment Systems. These changes clarify how to set the ‘CDA Performed’ bit in the CVR for CCD implementations. The changes in this bulletin will be incorporated into version 4.1.d of the CCD Card Type Approval documentation (that is, Test Cases, Card Images, and Implementation Conformance Statement). This bulletin is optional for all CCD cards, effective 1 November 2008. This bulletin is mandatory for all CCD cards, effective 1 November 2009.

Applicability

This Specification Update Bulletin applies to:

  • EMV Integrated Circuit Card Specifications for Payment Systems, Book 3

Related Documents

  • The CCD card approval test cases will be modified in accordance with the final Specification Update bulletin.

Description

This Specification Update Bulletin describes changes to the EMV Integrated Circuit Card Specifications for Payment Systems, Book 3. These changes clarify the settings for the ‘CDA Performed’ bit in the CVR for a CCD card. The CCD specification is ambiguous about the setting of the ‘CDA Performed’ bit in the CVR when CDA is performed at first GENERATE AC, but not performed at second GENERATE AC. CCD is clarified to set the ‘CDA Performed’ bit in the CVR sent in the second GENERATE AC response if CDA is performed for either the first or second GENERATE AC command (or both) of the transaction. NOTE: This clarification is consistent with the behaviour defined in the CPA specification, so this change has no impact on the EMV Common Payment Application (CPA) specification.

Specification Change Notice Please make the following changes to EMV Integrated Circuit Card Specifications for Payment Systems, Book 3. In section 9.2.3.2 of the CCD Part, under the heading for CDA Performed, change the text from: “In both the first and second GENERATE AC response, this bit shall be set if and only if Signed Dynamic Data is returned in the response to the GENERATE AC command of the current transaction.” to: “In the first GENERATE AC response, this bit shall be set if and only if Signed Dynamic Data is returned in the response to the first GENERATE AC command of the current transaction. In the second GENERATE AC response, this bit shall be set if and only if Signed Dynamic Data is returned in the response to the first or second GENERATE AC command (or both) of the current transaction.”
