Specification Update Bulletin No. 63 Third Edition May 2008 CPA Update of VLP Available Funds This Specification Update Bulletin describes changes to the EMV Common Payment Application (CPA) Specification for Payment Systems. These changes add an option to automatically reset the VLP Available Funds when the VLP Funds Limit is updated by a PUT DATA command. The changes in this bulletin will be incorporated into version 1.0.d of the CPA Card Type Approval documentation (that is, Test Cases, Card Images, and Implementation Conformance Statement). Testing is effective 1 November 2008. This bulletin is mandatory for all CPA cards that include the VLP Implementer Option.

Description

This Specification Update Bulletin describes changes to the EMV Integrated Circuit Card Specifications for Payment Systems Common Payment Application Specification. These changes add an issuer-option to automatically reset the VLP Available Funds when the VLP Funds Limit is updated by a PUT DATA command. This new option makes it possible to ensure the remaining balance for VLP (VLP Available Funds) is consistent with the new VLP Funds Limit when the VLP Funds Limit is updated by a PUT DATA command, with both updates occurring in a single command.

Specification Change Notice Modify the first bullet of Req 18.39 on

-34 from:

  • If L is less than or equal to the reserved length for the data element, then the card shall: − update the data element − increment by one the Issuer Script Command Counter − respond with SW1 SW2 = '9000' to the following:
  • If L is less than or equal to the reserved length for the data element, then the card shall: − update the data element − if the Tag in P1P2 has the value '9F77' and the ‘Update VLP Available funds with VLP Funds Limit’ bit in the Application Control has the value 1b, then set the VLP Available Funds to the value of the new VLP Funds Limit − increment by one the Issuer Script Command Counter − respond with SW1 SW2 = '9000' Modify the following portion of the third page of flow 18-6 on -37: Update data Increment Issuer Script Command Counter by 1 SW1 SW2:= '9000' to the following: Update data ‘Update VLP Available Funds with VLP Funds Limit’ bit = 1b in Application Control AND P1P2 = ‘9F77’? N Increment Issuer Script Command Counter by 1 Set VLP Available Funds Y to value of new VLP Funds Limit SW1 SW2:= '9000' In Table L-9 on page L-17, make the following change: Change the value for bit 2 in byte 2 of Application Control, from "x" to "1", and change the associated Meaning from "RFU" to "Update VLP Available Funds with VLP Funds Limit".
