Description

Book 4 section 10.1 identifies the terminal-sourced application independent data elements to be available from the terminal, but is not always explicit as to when these data elements shall be available. In general, the data elements in this section are initialised in and obtainable from the terminal prior to the issuance of the GET PROCESSING OPTIONS command in the Initiate Application Processing function described in Book 3 section 10.1. The data will not change during the transaction. Any data sent in online messages by the terminal must be the same as any provided to the card as listed in the PDOL and CDOL1, including Local Date and Local Time if appropriate. Specification Clarification Notice The following paragraph will be added as a new final paragraph to Book 4 section 10.1. ‘The terminal resident application independent data elements identified in this section shall be initialised in and obtainable from the terminal prior to the issuance of the GET PROCESSING OPTIONS command in the Initiate Application Processing function described in Book 3 section 10.1. The data shall not change during the transaction. Any data sent in the authorisation request message shall have the same value as that provided to the card as listed in the PDOL (if present) and CDOL1, including Local Date and Local Time if appropriate.’ © 1994-2007 EMVCo, LLC (“EMVCo”).
