Specification Update Bulletin No. 57 First Edition February 2007 MAC Algorithm for CCD Secure Messaging Clarification that Algorithm 3 of ISO/IEC 9797-1 is required for computation of the Secure Messaging MAC in CCD This Bulletin has immediate effect. Products will be tested against the requirements of this bulletin commencing with the availability of CCD card type approval.

Description

The Common Core Definitions in EMV 4.1 Book 2 do not specify the MAC algorithm to be used for secure messaging. This Specification Update Bulletin corrects this omission. Specification Change Notice Please make the following changes to EMV Book 2 Security and Key Management: Add the following sentence to the end of the CCD Section 9.2.3: “The MAC shall be generated using the MAC algorithm specified in Annex A1.2, Step 3, second bullet using DES as the block cipher.” © 1994-2007 EMVCo, LLC (“EMVCo”).
