Description

The Transaction Type data element indicates the type of transaction, represented by the first two digits of the ISO 8583 Processing Code. The Payment System network specifications define the actual values to be used in the Processing Code data element. Please contact the relevant payment systems for the values to be used for their transactions. Specification Clarification Notice In the next release of the EMV specification, the following clarification will be made to the text shown in:

  • EMV Integrated Circuit Card Specifications for Payment Systems Book 3 Version 4.1 May 2004 Annex A Data Elements Dictionary In the entry for Transaction Type, change the text in the Description column to "Indicates the type of financial transaction, represented by the first two digits of ISO 8583 Processing Code.
