None In EMV 2000 Integrated Circuit Card Specifications for Payment Systems Version 4.0 Book 3 Section 1.1 Data Elements Associated with Financial Transaction Interchange, it is stated that “Any additional data element transmitted in the response to the SELECT command (e.g. O/S Manufacturer proprietary data) is placed in the field 'FCI Issuer Discretionary Data' (EMV tag ‘BF0C’)” This Application Note clarifies which data is permitted in the FCI Template and the FCI Issuer Discretionary Data template (‘BF0C’) contained in the response to a SELECT command. Data elements that are allowed in ‘BF0C’ are:
- EMV-defined data elements specifically allocated to template 'BF0C' (see Book 1 Annex B and Book 3 Annex A), and
- Proprietary data elements with a tag defined according to Book 3, Annex B, section B1.1. If the terminal does not support any Issuer specific processing, data elements present in template ‘BF0C’ may be ignored. If the terminal encounters data elements in template 'BF0C' that are not understood or recognised, they shall be ignored. This document contains proprietary and confidential information of EMVCo LLC. Copyright © EMVCo LLC 2003 No additional data elements shall be present in the FCI template (tag ‘6F’), other than those contained in template ‘BF0C’. If such data elements are present they shall be ignored by the terminal. The final sentence of the first paragraph will be deleted and replaced by: ‘No additional data elements shall be present in the FCI template (tag ‘6F’) returned in the response to the SELECT command other than those contained in template ‘BF0C’. Data elements present in templates '6F' and/or 'BF0C' that are not expected or understood by the terminal because the terminal does not support any issuer specific processing shall be ignored.
