Specifications Updates: Bulletin no. 15 First edition January 2003 Changes to Key Colours and Keypad Layout This bulletin applies to EMV 2000 Integrated Circuit Card Specifications for Payment Systems Version 4.0 Book 4, section 3.1.1 Command Keys and section 3.1.2 PIN Pad and to EMV ’96 Integrated Circuit Card Terminal Specification for Payment Systems section 3.1.1 Command Keys and section 3.1.2 PIN Pad. The contents of this bulletin have immediate effect. In order to better accommodate national and regional practices and requirements for the colour and layout of keys on keypads, the current specifications in EMV are being relaxed. Change to key colours and keypad layouts Please make the following change to EMV 2000 Integrated Circuit Card Specifications for Payment Systems Version 4.0 Book 4, section 3.1.1 Command Keys and section 3.1.2 PIN Pad and to EMV ’96 Integrated Circuit Card Terminal Specification for Payment Systems section 3.1.1 Command Keys and section 3.1.2 PIN Pad: Section 3.1.1: Replace the 2nd paragraph beginning ‘The following colours, if used…’ with ‘If the colours green, red or yellow are used, either for key lettering or the keys themselves, it is recommended that they be reserved for the command keys according to the following table:’ Section 3.1.2: Add the words ‘It is recommended that’ at the beginning of the first sentence of the 3rd paragraph.
