General - Bulletin no. 09, November 2001 EMVCo Accredited Laboratories: EMV Level 1 and 2 EMVCo has received various questions from the industry regarding the status of EMVCo accredited laboratories for EMV Terminal Type Approval 1 and 2 indicating that there may be an incorrect perception that EMVCo accredited laboratories do not all test to the same set of EMV requirements and/or that the results produced by one laboratory are more valuable than those produce by another. This notification serves to confirm that EMVCo has accredited laboratories based on their ability to conduct EMV tests consistent with EMVCo’s requirements. All of the accredited laboratories have implemented test processes and procedures consistent with the EMVCo-defined type approval process published on this website. EMVCo does not draw any distinction between testing services provided by individual accredited laboratories and accepts test results provided by any of these laboratories. Payment systems’ members and vendors are free to choose any laboratory from the list published on the EMVCo website to perform testing services to suit their needs for EMV compliance testing. The payment systems and/or acquirers may require additional testing over and above that defined by EMVCo but that is entirely outside EMVCo’s scope and should not influence a member/vendor’s choice of a laboratory.
