GB nº 18, IFM and Application Kernel Retention Policy

v1.0 General Bulletin

General Bulletin No. 18 First Edition March 2004 IFM and Application Kernel Retention Policy Effective October 2003, EMVCo has advised its recognized laboratories to retain samples of all IFMs and/or application kernels submitted for EMV type approval, for a period of at least 2 years. The period of retention shall begin from the date the laboratory has completed type approval testing on the IFM or application kernel. As a result, vendors should anticipate that the laboratory would retain submitted components for a minimum 2-year period, after which, the equipment will be returned to the vendor. During this retention period, the vendor is also responsible for providing direct support to the laboratory as needed to maintain or operate the sample components. This retention period does not apply to components that have failed the type approval testing procedure. Please contact your EMVCo-recognized laboratory for additional information on their implementation of this policy.
