• Specification Update Bulletin N°16 – Enhancement to If Cash or Cashback CVM Condition Code In line with requests from the industry, EMVCo intends to enhance the CVM List options in the EMV specifications with new CVM Conditions to enable terminals to differentiate between unattended cash, manual cash, and purchase with cashback transactions when selecting the cardholder verification method for the transaction. To accommodate payment terminal software lifecycles, EMVCo has chosen to allow eight years for terminals supporting these transaction types to recognize these new conditions. During the migration period new cards should be personalized with CVM Lists that consider both terminals that support the new conditions and terminals that do not support them. At the end of the migration period, all software at terminals supporting these transaction types must support the new conditions. After the end of the migration period, issuers may assume that all terminals support the new conditions when coding card CVM Lists. Older terminals do not support new conditions. All terminals support new conditions CVM Lists support old and new terminals. Issuers may assume that new conditions are supported. Cards Milestone Specification update bulletin published Terminal type approval requires support for new condition codes. Cards begin including new condition codes in CVM Lists. CVM Lists must consider that not all terminals support new condition codes. All deployed terminals must include software supporting new condition codes. Card CVM Lists can assume that all devices support new condition codes.
