General Bulletin No. 41 First Edition, July 2009 Query to Contactless Vendors This General Bulletin asked the Contactless Vendor Community to evaluate the impact about the requirements changes from Contactless Communication Protocol V2.0 to V2.0.1 Please submit any comments you may have via the 'Comment' facility on the EMVCo website at www.emvco.com by September 30, 2009 Dear Terminal Vendors, EMVCo is in the process of evaluating the implementation dates for PCD testing of the 2.0.1 requirements. We are seeking vendor input to determine the significance of the changes from 2.0 to 2.0.1 and how this will impact your development. Will the requirement changes in 2.0.1 impact software, firmware or hardware? Based on your feedback, EMVCo will finalize its implementation dates for testing and determine the migration path from 2.0 testing to 2.0.1 testing. Thank you Expected 2.0 vs. 2.0.1 modification IMPACT on product development stage for vendors Modification Type on PICC Analog on PICC Digital on PCD on PCD Analog Digital EMV Reference Equipment name Editori N/A has been replaced al N/A N/A N/A Section 3.2.6 and 3.2.7 Analog N/A N/A N/A · VOV,RESET has been defined rms and its value has been adapted to 3.5 mV. · VS,OV,RESET has been defined rms and its value has been adapted to 5.3 mV. The full state machine of the Type A and Type B PICC has become normative. Digital N/A N/A N/A A new requirement has been Digital N/A added stating that the length of a dynamic UID must be 4 bytes. Expected 2.0 vs. 2.0.1 modification IMPACT on product development stage for vendors Modification Type on PICC on PICC Digital on PCD on PCD Analog Analog Digital The PCD must not indicate Digital N/A N/A support for extended ATQB.· The PICC must accept REQB/WUPB commands that indicate support for extended ATQB. Bit b4 of the ADC has become Digital N/A N/A RFU. PCD error handling for a transmission error in the response to the SELECT command has been added. Digital N/A N/A N/A Figure 10.2 has been adapted to be compliant with requirement 10.3.2.2. Editori N/A al N/A N/A In some sections 'No correct Digital N/A N/A response' has been replaced with 'a block with a transmission error'. In Some sections 'No valid block' Digital N/A N/A has been replaced with 'a time- out error' A third bullet has been added to Digital N/A N/A the informative statement: Power- off PCD. In this case only the minimum value of tRESET applies. Annex A.2: VPP has been Analog N/A N/A defined as a function of z and r. Annex A.2 Analog N/A N/A N/A Modulation PCD → PICC (Type A) parameters have been changed. Annex A.3 Modulation PCD → PICC (Type A) set-up values changed. Analog N/A N/A N/A Annex A.3:The minimum value Analog N/A N/A for VS1,pp has been changed from 7.5 mV into 5.5 mV. Annex A.3:Two new set-up points Analog N/A N/A for the PICC Type B modulation (Type B reception requirements have been added for the lower limit. PICC testing improve ment) Annex A.4: The PCD value of Digital N/A N/A FSCIMIN (FSCMIN) has been changed from 2 (32) to 0 (16). Annex D 'Any other error' has been replaced with 'Any other transmission error'. Editori N/A al N/A N/A N/A
