General Bulletin No. 047 3rd Edition, September 2014 This Bulletin is Effective immediately EMVCo ESD Test Evaluation Process for Terminals This Bulletin announces the official release of the EMVCo Terminal ESD Evaluation process EMVCo is pleased to announce the official launch of the Terminal ESD Evaluation process. The purpose of this ESD process is to evaluate the resilience of card acceptance devices to electrostatic discharges during a transaction. The terminal will be evaluated by performing Chip reader and Magstripe reader ESD testing, based on scenarios that represent real world situations. Magstripe terminals without Chip readers are out of scope for this evaluation. The following Terminal ESD Evaluation documents are now available on the EMVCo website:

  • Administrative Process v2.3
  • ICS v2.3
  • Request for Evaluation v2.3
  • Request for Registration v2.3
  • Test Cases v2.3 This new process will be made available from September, 2014.
