Applicability

This Specification Bulletin applies to:  EMV Integrated Circuit Card Specifications for Payment Systems Version 4.3 Book 4 Related Documents  EMV Integrated Circuit Card Specifications for Payment Systems Version 4.3 Book 3

Description

The EMV specifications define data elements for terminal Application Version Number (tag '9F09) and ICC Application Version Number (tag '9F08'). The terminal maintains a terminal Application Version Number for each product supported (i.e. an Application Version Number per AID) and this data element is used for the purpose of Processing Restriction function. This specification bulletin clarifies that the terminal need not support multiple Application Version Numbers per AID. Specification Change In EMV Book 4, section 9 "Software Management", remove the last paragraph: To facilitate ICC application upgrade from one version to another, the terminal should be able to support at least two versions of the ICC application, as identified by the terminal’s Application Version Numbers. © 1994-2014 EMVCo, LLC (“EMVCo”).
