In this context, Wireless:
- Includes all types of ‘card-rail based’ payments
- Occurs in or close to a physical store
- Does not require cardholder’s device to be or remain in close proximity of a payment terminal
- Does not include current EMV contact and contactless solutions The goal has been to define a set of illustrative use cases, describing the payer and merchant experiences, and the role of other entities involved in the process of payment, enabling a new wave of business applications. Copyright ©2021 EMVCo – Confidential 5 Copyright ©201270 EMVCo – Unauthorised reproduction is prohibited 5 Purpose of Use Cases: Support Discussion The illustrative use cases were created to stimulate discussion on the use of wireless technology for card payment related interactions. The goals of the discussion to:
- Assess if wireless technology is an area for EMVCo to engage
- Determine the scope of any technical work on wireless technology that would be relevant
- Identify the requirements for any technical solution such that it meets the needs of the card payment ecosystem Copyright ©2021 EMVCo – Confidential 6 Copyright ©201270 EMVCo – Unauthorised reproduction is prohibited 6 Purpose of Use Cases: Illustrative only
- The presented use cases are illustrative and intended to be representative of typical wireless possibilities
- EMVCo does not commit to specification of any use case
- EMVCo will evaluate actual technical feasibility at a later stage
- User interface descriptions are simply to illustrate the use case
- No implication that EMVCo will specify a UI
- No implication that this would be a correct or preferred UI
- Some elements of a use case may be realised using technology, systems and programmes outside of EMVCo’s scope
- Use cases are intended to be transferable to different scenarios Copyright ©2021 EMVCo – Confidential 7 Copyright ©201270 EMVCo – Unauthorised reproduction is prohibited 7 Illustrative Use Cases Copyright ©2021 EMVCo – Confidential 8 Copyright ©201270 EMVCo – Unauthorised reproduction is prohibited 8 Put it on my Tab Copyright ©2021 EMVCo – Confidential 9 Business Stories: Ordering As a Customer, I want to:
