EMV<sup>®</sup> Specification Bulletin No. 266 First Edition January 2022 Update for EMV Book C-5 This Specification Bulletin contains amendment to Book C-5.

This Draft Specification Bulletin applies to:

Description

This bulletin updates the condition to support Random Transaction Selection. Specification Changes As shown below, in section 2.5.1, Random Transaction Selection is added as an option which the Reader provider may choose in the implementation:

2.5.1 Implementation Options

  • Random Transaction Selection
  • This implementation option enables readers to select transactions randomly for online authorisation.
  • Random Transaction Selection is only used for EMV Mode.
  • Implementations for offline with online capable readers shall support this option. In section 2.5.2, the description is added that Acquirers may activate Random Transaction Selection only if Random Transaction Selection is implemented by the Reader provider as shown countries. below:

2.5.2 Acquirer Options

  • Random Transaction Selection
  • This option activates Random Transaction Selection during Terminal Risk Management.
  • The option is available only if Random Transaction Selection (implementation option) is supported in EMV Mode. countries.
