Description

This Specification Bulletin introduces a new data object, the Kernel Identifier–Terminal, which identifies the kernel used to process the transaction. The Entry Point provides this new data element to the reader when the Outcome from the Kernel is other than Try Again or Select Next.

Specification Changes Change Note in Section 3.3 Combination Selection as follows: Note: To assist in a clear understanding of the process described in this section, it is necessary to distinguish between the term “Kernel ID”, and the term “Kernel Identifier” and the term “Kernel Identifier–Terminal”. The term Kernel ID is used to identify the kernel(s) kept in the reader, and the term Kernel Identifier (tag ‘9F2A’) is used to identify the kernel(s) indicated by the card, and the term Kernel Identifier–Terminal (tag ‘96’) is used to identify the kernel that Entry Point selected for the transaction. In Section 3.4 Kernel Activation – Start D, after requirements 3.4.1.3, add the following:

3.4.1.4 Entry Point shall set the Kernel Identifier–Terminal (tag ‘96’) with the value of Kernel ID from the selected combination. In section 3.5 Outcome Processing, Requirements – Outcome – Other, requirement 3.5.1.5, add the following bullet to the list: The Kernel Identifier–Terminal (the identifier of the Kernel that Entry Point selected for the transaction) In Annex A, Table A-1, add the following entry to the table in the appropriate alphabetic order: Name Description Source Format Template Tag Length Kernel Identifier– Identifies the kernel used for the Entry Point b Terminal transaction - ‘96’ 1 or 3-8 In Annex B, Glossary, add the following entry in the appropriate alphabetic order: Kernel Identifier–Terminal Identifier to specify the kernel that Entry Point selected for the transaction
