Effective Date

  • Immediately EMVCo decided to update the definition of the Landing Plane used during Level 1 Reduced Range PCD Type Approval tests. This information supersedes the Landing Plane definition provided in Level 1 Test Guidelines. Analogue Testing: countries. z0 is defined as the closest distance to Reference Mark plane where at least 5 out of 9 test positions can be tested with each EMV – TEST PICC.
  • If z0 < 5 mm.
  • The Landing plane (z = 0cm) shall be defined as the plane containing the Reference Mark. All z values for the definition of the test positions are calculated from this plane.
  • In case of untestable positions at z = 0cm:  The achievable test positions are tested at z=z0 instead of z=0cm. The Acceptance Criteria defined in TTA Bulletin N°276 are computed using the results of positions tested at z=0cm and z=z0.  Positions that cannot be tested at z0 are not tested and are reported as not tested.
  • If z0 ≥ 5 mm.
  • The Landing plane (z = 0cm) shall be defined as the plane parallel to the product surface and z= z0 above than the reference mark. All z values for the definition of the test positions are calculated from this plane. Interoperability Testing: For each PTP device and for each orientation (θ = 0 and θ = 3π/2), z0 is defined as the closest distance to Reference Mark plane where at least 3 positions on the 5 positions can be tested.
  • If z0 < 5 mm
  • The Landing plane (z = 0cm) shall be defined as the plane containing the Reference Mark. All z values for the definition of the test positions are calculated from this plane.
  • The product is tested at all the supported positions (z0,r,f) instead of (0,r,f) and the weights defined for positions (0,r,f) are used.
  • Positions that cannot be tested at z0 are not tested and are reported as not tested.
  • If z0 ≥ 5 mm.
  • The Landing plane (z = 0cm) shall be defined as the plane parallel to the product surface and z= z0 above the reference mark. All z values for the definition of the test positions are calculated from this plane.
  • Positions that cannot be tested at z0 are not tested and are reported as not tested. Note: In case the Reference Mark is not on the Landing Plane, the projection of the Reference Mark on the Landing Plane shall be used as the origin of the Operating Volume during Testing (position (0,0,0) of the Operating Volume). Otherwise, the Reference Mark shall be used as origin of the Operating Volume. countries.
