Effective Date Immediately This Bulletin defines specific Analogue and Interoperability Acceptance Criteria that EMVCo will consider when reviewing the test results to decide whether a Reduced Range Letter of Approval can be granted. The Acceptance Criteria are defined as the minimum percentage of positions where the device under test complies with Analogue requirements defined in EMV® Specification. Additionally, the criteria assess successful compliance with Interoperability tests with cards and mobiles. This approach introduces some flexibility by allowing certain positions to fail, while still ensuring an acceptable level of interoperability. EMVCo intends that Reduced Range devices will eventually progress toward compliance with standard EMV requirements in the testing Operating Volumes defined in Reduced Range Level1 Test Guidelines. Accordingly, these Acceptance Criteria are considered to be temporary and may be subject to change over time. Note that the existing Acceptance Criteria for Digital and IQ testing continues to apply to ensure full compliance for interoperability.

1. Analogue Acceptance Criteria Even though the Analogue Acceptance Criteria are defined in a limited Operating Volume, Analogue tests shall be performed using the procedure and Operating Volumes defined in the EMV® Contactless Terminal Level 1 Type Approval – Reduced Range Products Level1 Test Guidelines document. 1.1. Analogue Test Cases classification Analogue Test Cases are divided into two groups of Test Cases. Group 1 Test Cases:
- TAB111: PCD to PICC Power Transfer
- TA131 to TA138: PICC to PCD Signal Interface for Type A Communications Test Cases
- TB131 to TB138: PICC to PCD Signal Interface for Type B Communications Test Cases Group 2 Test Cases: All other Analogue Test Cases. 1.2. - At least 3 out of 9 test positions shall be PASS at z=0 cm for all Group 1 Test Cases
- At least 3 out of 9 test positions shall be PASS at z=1 cm for all Group 1 Test Cases
- At least 60% of the test positions defined in Table 1 shall be PASS for all Group 1 Test cases. Results from Group 1 Test Cases with EMV – TEST PICC 3 are used for information purposes only. Group 2 Test Cases: All test positions shall be PASS where z ≤ 1 cm. countries. 1.3. To be eligible to receive a Reduced Range 2 LoA a product shall reach the following Acceptance Criteria: Group 1 Test Cases: For EMV – TEST PICC 1, EMV – TEST PICC 2 and EMV – TEST PICC 3:
- At least 3 out of 9 test positions shall be PASS at z=0 cm for all Group 1 Test Cases.
- At least 3 out of 13 test positions shall be PASS at z=2 cm for all Group 1 Test Cases.
- At least 60% of the test positions defined in Table 2 shall be PASS for all Group 1 Test Cases. Group 2 Test Cases: All test positions Shall be PASS where z ≤ 2cm. 2. Interoperability Acceptance Criteria. Even though the Interoperability Acceptance Criteria are defined in a limited Operating Volume, Interoperability tests shall be performed using the procedure and Operating Volumes defined in the EMV® Contactless Terminal Level 1 Type Approval – Reduced Range Products Level 1 Test Guidelines document. 2.1. Scores A Score (also named Success Rate in PCD Level1 Interoperability Testing Requirements document) is calculated for each PTP device (PTP Card and PTP Mobile) using testing positions and associated weights defined by EMVCo. Reference Scores EMVCo defines three reference scores (RefScores) or levels of performance for the Interoperability tests with a PTP device. Using different “RefScores” allows accommodating specific designs that could lead to some nonoptimal RF coupling as exceptions. For example, while most of the PTP Cards are ID1 PVC cards, few with non-PVC material or unique antenna shapes may come with specific challenges although compliant with EMV specifications. These reference scores are used to in the definition of the Acceptance Criteria (see sections 2.4 and 2.5). Reduced Range 1 Interoperability test Acceptance Criteria For Reduced Range 1 products, the Scores are calculated in two different Operating Volumes: OV1. OV2. Interoperability Acceptance Criteria are defined only in OV1, the Scores in OV2 are calculated for information purpose only. To be eligible for a Reduced Range 1 LoA a product shall reach ALL of the following Acceptance Criteria in OV1 Operating Volume for PTP Mobiles and PTP Cards respectively: PTP Types Acceptance Criteria PTP Mobiles PTP Cards Minimum % of the PTPs with Scores higher or equal to RefScore1: Minimum % of the PTPs with Scores higher or equal to RefScore2: Minimum % of the PTPs with Scores higher or equal to RefScore3: Minimum % of the PTPs with Scores higher or equal to RefScore1: 70% 100% 100%. 60% countries.
